Overview

Given current circumstances, we understand that families and professionals are in need of more information and resources about continuing LSL development as they adjust to new routines. To help navigate this uncertain time, we’re opening access to this previous course on telepractice & LSL intervention so that you can explore these topics at your own pace. You can download resources and materials as well as watch video clips and the recorded live sessions. If you have questions on a topic or thoughts to discuss, we encourage you to bring it to your community forum. Professionals, please note that no CEUs will be offered.

Course Overview

The use of telepractice is becoming more and more common as the internet and digital technology become less expensive and more accessible. This four-week learning experience focuses on the use of LSLS Principles in a telepractice setting with an emphasis on guiding and coaching parents. Although guiding and coaching parents should underpin any LSLS session, the physical limitations of a telepractice model provide professionals with increased opportunities to emphasize this aspect of service delivery. When used effectively, telepractice has the potential to maximize family involvement and ensure that all families who seek LSLS outcomes for their children are able to access qualified professionals, regardless of their location.

Featuring

Marge Edwards M.S., CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT.

Marge is Programs Leader and Coordinator of the Family Support Community at Hearing First, an educational endeavor of the Oberkotter Foundation. As a parent of two successful children with hearing loss and practicing as a Listening and Spoken Language specialist, Marge knows firsthand what is possible for children born with hearing loss today when families receive appropriate support. Marge has provided early intervention services to families for 10 years and has offered professional training for the delivery of telepractice services to families of children with hearing loss. Marge is dedicated to assuring that every family who desires a listening and spoken language outcome for their child has access to accurate information, access to quality audiology and early intervention services and support from families like them who have chosen an LSL outcome for their child.
