Course Overview

Assessing speech recognition in children requires foundational knowledge of developmental skill acquisition, evidence-based clinical protocols, and family-focused counseling and management. This learning experience delves into the rationale behind a standardized pediatric minimum speech test battery and its application across a diverse set of children, including special populations such as children with comorbidities, limited English proficiency, or cultural differences. Sessions also will emphasize the value of multidisciplinary collaboration – including professionals, parents, and caregivers – to enhance positive outcomes in children who are deaf and hard-of-hearing and their families.
