FAQ Continuing Education Providers

Through which professional organizations is Hearing First a continuing education provider?

Hearing First is an approved CE provider through the Alexander Graham Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language® (AG Bell), the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). You may be able to use Hearing First Certificates of Completion to claim CE credits from your employer or school, depending on their criteria.

How can I verify and update requested CEs?

You can confirm which CEs you requested and change your CE request directly in the course space. First login to your account and navigate to your Learning Dashboard. Then select the course and navigate to the My Learning tab. Click “Edit” under CE Information and from there you’ll be able to confirm and change your requested CEs. Note this feature isn't available after the course ends or closes.

How long will it take for a course I've completed to show on my ASHA CE Registry transcript?

According to ASHA, it can take up to 8 weeks for a course to show up on your transcript. If you have completed a Hearing First course and you requested ASHA CE credits, Hearing First will send your name on a roster to ASHA. After 8 weeks, if your credits are not recorded on your transcript, you will need to contact the continuing education unit of the ASHA Member Center.

Does ASHA transmit records to CE Brokers in certain states?

ASHA CE transmits records to CE Broker for licensees who use the ASHA CE Registry and have a license number in ASHA's system for the following states: Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, and South Carolina. Hearing First is an approved ASHA CE Provider so when learners from these states complete a Hearing First ASHA approved course, request ASHA CEUs, and use the ASHA CE Registry, ASHA will then report their course records to the CE Broker.

May I register and receive Continuing Education credits for the same course?

Hearing First does not restrict learner registration or repeated completion of learning experiences. However, Hearing First cannot guarantee the provision of duplicate CE credits. Learners will receive a certificate for any completed course. Any specific questions should be addressed to your state board licensing or referencing the continuing education guidelines for your intended provider: ASHA, AG Bell or AAA.

Can I use my Hearing First Certificate of Completion to apply to other professional organizations on my own?

Yes, you may use the Certificate of Completion for all continuing education requirements for any professional organization deemed appropriate to your credentials. Also, it replaces the need to submit a separate Alexander Graham Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language® form.

Hearing First Certifications of Completion include the following:
  • Title of Course
  • Completion Date
  • Name of Learner
  • Name of Organization
  • Signature
  • Contact hours and if applicable CEU code

Can I still take a Hearing First learning experience if I don’t need CE credits?

We encourage everyone to participate in all our learning experiences.

How much does it cost to register for Hearing First learning experiences?

There is no charge for Hearing First learning experiences.

What are the requirements for earning CE credits through Hearing First courses?

We take the provision of continuing education seriously. You earn CE credits by completing all course requirements and completing a self-assessment. Hearing First offers no partial credit. Based on our agreements with the CE professional organizations, we cannot make exceptions.

CE requirements are different for each learning experience. Look for general CE requirements on the overview page of each course before registering. Once registered, you can find detailed requirements in the course.

You can expect to:

  • Complete all content in the course space
  • Participate in the discussions, if applicable
  • If the course has a live session, participate actively in all live sessions, including greeting upon login, answering polls and sharing in chat for the entire duration, and adding to chat before signing out.
  • Complete the self-assessment within a week after the course finishes

What if I didn’t complete all CE requirements?

If you were unable to complete all CE requirements, you still have access to all content and recordings. We hope you’ll continue using the content for your practice! Though you won’t receive CE credits or a Certificate of Completion, you’ll receive a feedback survey. This survey is optional but will help us make improvements based on your valuable feedback.

When can I expect the self-assessment after I’ve completed all CE requirements?

For courses with a live session, we process CE requirements after the last live session. If you’ve completed all CE requirements, you’ll receive an email with a link.

What if I can’t find the email with the self-assessment link?

Check your spam or junk mail folders. You can also access the survey from the top of the course homepage. Be sure to complete the survey within one week after the last live session.

When will I receive my Certificate of Completion after completing a learning experience?

We’ll email you a link to your Certificate of Completion after completing the feedback survey. You can also find a link to your certificates on your dashboard.

Where can I re-download my Hearing First Certificate of Completion?

You’ll find the link to any Certificates of Completion on your dashboard.
