FAQ Live Online Courses

Hearing First live online courses are designed to provide you with direct access to facilitators through a blended learning format.

Before the Live Session:

  • One week before the live session, you’ll receive notification that the one-hour pre-learning recording is available. It can be watched in one sitting or pause and resume as your schedule allows. It is recommended to complete pre-learning before attending the live session.
  • Another component of the pre-learning is to review the discussion question. Click on the link to review and potentially join the conversation. You can post your question and/or comment about the topic as well as reflect and interact with other learners’ posts. This benefit provides you with direct access to the facilitator.
  • The Dig Deeper section provides additional resources, articles, and references provided by the facilitator.
  • For the best experience, download and install the Adobe Connect software before the live session.

Time for the Live Session:

  • The live session is scheduled weekly and typically runs in the evening from 8-9pm Eastern.
  • About an hour before the live session, you’ll receive a reminder notification.
  • We recommend you log in to the live session approximately 15 minutes before the session begins. To join the live session, go to the course space and click the orange “Join Us Live” link. A new tab will open in Adobe Connect bridging you to the live session event.
  • When you enter the Adobe Connect room, you may be prompted to check for software updates, confirm audio connection, and familiarize yourself with the platform features.  Full attendance is required for credit.

After the Live Session:

  • About one hour after the event, the live session tracking will update.
  • Depending on the course length, the same process runs until the last live session.
  • About an hour after the last live session ends and if all course requirements are met, you’ll receive an email with a link to the self-assessment and feedback survey. Within one week, complete the survey to receive your certificate of completion. If you requested CE credits, the codes will be included on the certificate.
  • Alternatively, you may receive an email stating you did not complete all course requirements. Return to the course homepage to see which requirement is not completed.  If you missed a pre-learning requirement, you may still have time to complete it within 2 days after the last live session.
  • If you missed a live session, you will not be eligible for credit. You can keep an eye out in the catalog as most live online courses are moved into self-study offerings the following month.
