FAQ Live Session Help

To help ensure technical issues don’t prevent you from joining live sessions on time, we strongly recommend signing in 20 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Why can’t I see the “Join Us Live” button?

Be sure you are logged into your Community (Login) and access your course by going to “My Dashboard”.

How can I ensure my computer is ready for live sessions?

  • Use the Adobe Connect Application to attend the live session.
    • You can go here, scroll down to find the Windows or Mac version to download and install. If when clicking the orange ‘Join Us Live’ button won’t open the App, you’ll need to enable popups in your browser.
    • If you can’t download or use the App, run this test in your browser ahead of the session and switch your web browser (i.e. Chrome vs. Firefox) if the test doesn’t work well.
  • Use a desktop or laptop computer, not your phone or tablet.
    • Using a phone or tablet to attend a live session can cause tracking issues. If you’re seeking CEUs, you’ll need to use a computer to fully participate.
  • Sign in early to test your connection. Go to the homepage of the course, click the orange button to launch Adobe Connect to join the live session.
    • The Adobe Connect room opens 20 minutes before the live sessions starts. Live Tech support will be available. Please contact us at learn@hearingfirst.org right away if you are having trouble signing on or get disconnected.
  • Participate in the chat during the live session. (Now required for CEU tracking)
    • If you have connectivity or tracking issues, this serves as our only other record of your attendance in the Adobe Connect live session.
    • You’ll need to:
      • Introduce yourself in the chat once you login.
      • Participate in all questions and polls during the session.
      • Add your name to chat before signing out when the session ends.

How do I sign in to a live session?

On the day of a live session, go to the course homepage and click on the orange ‘Join Us Live’ button at the top. If this does not launch Adobe Connect, you may need to enable pop-ups in your browser. If you are using Chrome, Firefox, and Safari follow the instructions linked to enable pop-ups. If you are wanting CE credits for the course, please avoid using a mobile device.

Can I participate in a live session from a smartphone or tablet?

If you are seeking CE credits, please avoid using a mobile device so our system can accurately track your participation. For the best possible learning experience, we recommend you use a computer instead of a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. Adobe Connect Mobile app users report that video files and captioning do not perform properly and the interface is difficult to navigate.

What if I’m not able to view the live session captioning?

Join the session using a desktop or laptop computer instead of a mobile device. Alternatively, you can view session captioning at https://www.streamtext.net/text.aspx?event=CFI-HF.

Will I still be able to earn CE credits if I missed the first a few minutes of the live session?

Yes. Learners are allowed a 14 minute grace period in a 60 minute live session.

What times are the live sessions held?

All the times listed are in Eastern Time (UTC−5:00) for U.S. and Canada. If you aren’t sure what time this is compared to your current time zone, we recommend using this site to compare: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html

Why is my live session attendance not tracking?

If you were disconnected at any time during the live session this could cause the system to not record your full attendance. If you actively participated in the chat, use the Contact Us Form for further assistance. We’ll use the chat records to verify your attendance.
