How To: Talk to Your Baby About Every Little Thing

Give a play-by-play of what you and your baby are doing, thinking, and feeling. You could say, “You’re chewing on your giraffe. Does that taste good? Mmmm!”

Use a variety of words including actions like bounce, kick, and wiggle and descriptors like sleepy and tiny.

Use repetition during baby games and play. Your baby loves hearing things over and over again. Soon, they’ll start to anticipate their favorite games just by hearing you say a few words. You could regularly say, “Peek-a-boo, I see you!” to help your baby recognize this fun game.
