Using LSL in Routines With Your Baby Using LSL in Routines With Your Toddler

We all need a sense of routine. These everyday happenings are the ways we get things done and feel at peace. As adults we have routines that help us start our day, eat well and stay active, enjoy our interests, and spend our time. Guess what? Our babies thrive in these same routines!

Why? Routines help babies with their body clock and provide them with a sense of security. Routines also support your baby to be calm and relaxed during down times. When you use predictable language during routines, this builds on your baby’s listening, learning, and talking. In other words, routines are the place where your baby learns!

Let’s explore more of these predictable and familiar places in which babies and young children can learn to take turns and communicate with you – their most favorite and important teacher:

  • Daily routines are what happen every day such as feeding, dressing, and reading.
  • Play routines are fun activities that you like to do with your baby such as peek-a-boo, songs and toys.
  • Social routines are when you go places like visiting family, meeting friends or going shopping.

Unlock the power of routines for your baby’s learning today!

Watch this video to learn a few simple tips to make the most of every routine.

Make the most of your routines with helpful tips in the handouts linked here!
