Watch the Facebook Live “Ask Me Anything” video featuring Hearing First CEO Dr. Teresa Caraway and author, journalist and LSL mom, Lydia Denworth, as they discuss Lydia’s hearing loss story with her son Alex, and the science behind how the brain uses sound for early speech and language development.

94 percent of babies who are deaf or hard of hearing are born to two hearing parents. Lydia Denworth’s son Alex is included in that 94 percent, which led the journalist down the path of learning and investigation into hearing, sound, and development after his hearing loss was identified. As a result, Lydia wrote the book I Can Hear You Whisper: An Intimate Journey through the Science of Sound and Language, which dialogues her findings about the relationship between sound, language, literacy and learning.

Watch Hearing First CEO Dr. Teresa Caraway’s interview of Lydia, and hear their discussion about Alex’s journey, her helpful parent tips for LSL living, and the science of how the brain uses sound during early speech and language development.

“Life is not what happens to you, but what you do next.” - Lydia Denworth
