Who are these lessons for?

First LSL Lessons is designed for parents and caregivers of babies with hearing loss, as well as the professionals who support them. Whether you're just starting the journey or you're looking for fresh ways to strengthen your child’s listening and spoken language skills, these lessons offer ready-to-use tips for practicing LSL during your daily life. The lessons can be completed by families on their own or in partnership with their Listening and Spoken Language early interventionist.

Professionals can also use the lessons in their practice as tools for coaching and counseling families during intervention sessions or as additional information to help families on their Listening and Spoken Language journey.

My child was recently identified with hearing loss and we’re waiting on hearing devices. Can these lessons still help me and my child?

Of course! You don’t have to wait to get started. These lessons offer easy, clear, actionable steps that can be used right away – even before your baby has hearing devices. The strategies and tips inside First LSL Lessons fit into everyday life and help you support your baby's listening and talking from the very start.

If you’re ready to get started, try Lesson 1: Start with the Brain to begin building a strong foundation, or get ready for your baby’s hearing devices with Lesson 2: Get to Know Your Baby’s Hearing Devices.

Do I have to go through Lessons 1-12 in order?
